Shares of BSE Ltd are likely to remain in focus today after brokerage Haitong Securities highlighted the exchange’s improving position in the options segment, with its premium average daily turnover (ADTO) market share reaching 36% in Q1FY27-to-date.

According to Haitong Securities, BSE’s premium ADTO stood at ₹320 billion in Q1FY27-to-date, representing an 11% quarter-on-quarter increase and a market share of 36% in the index options segment.

The brokerage noted that during May 2026, BSE’s premium ADTO declined 8% month-on-month to ₹306 billion, translating into a market share of 34%. Despite the monthly moderation, the exchange continues to maintain a significantly larger presence in the options market compared to previous years.

Meanwhile, NSE’s index options premium ADTO rose 4% month-on-month to ₹586 billion in May 2026, with its market share standing at 66%. For Q1FY27-to-date, NSE’s premium ADTO was down 15% on a quarter-on-quarter basis, according to Haitong’s estimates.

The brokerage also highlighted healthy activity in the cash segment. BSE’s cash market ADTO increased 9% quarter-on-quarter in Q1FY27-to-date, while NSE’s cash market ADTO grew 12% over the same period.

The latest data comes at a time when investors continue to closely monitor competitive dynamics between India’s two leading stock exchanges, particularly in the fast-growing options trading segment, which has emerged as a key revenue driver for exchanges.

Meanwhile, BSE shares ended Wednesday’s trading session at ₹4,248.40, down 3.52% from the previous close of ₹4,403.30. The stock had touched an intraday high of ₹4,446.80 during the session, marking a fresh 52-week high, before witnessing profit booking. With Indian markets remaining closed on Thursday on account of Bakri Eid, investors will be watching the stock’s reaction when trading resumes today.
