Aavas Financiers Limited has issued a clarification on market rumours regarding alleged discrepancies in certain loan classifications, purported reversal of refinancing facilities by the National Housing Bank (NHB), and management changes at the company linked to such purported reversal.
The company strongly refutes the assertions contained in the reported news, calling the contents misleading, malicious, and speculative. Aavas stated the report is not an accurate characterisation of its engagement with NHB.
NHB, in the ordinary course of its regulatory and refinancing oversight, conducts periodic audits, reviews, and supervisory engagements with housing finance companies including Aavas. One such inspection is ongoing and has not concluded, and these engagements are routine regulatory activities that do not constitute adverse regulatory findings, penal actions, or directions to reverse or repay refinancing facilities.
Based on the facts presently available, no disclosure is necessitated at this stage under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The company will make requisite disclosures if any development arises that requires disclosure under applicable law.
Aavas maintains that its internal controls, risk management processes, and compliance framework are subject to regular review and improvement. The company remains focused on serving its customers, maintaining confidence of its lenders, investors, and regulators.
The clarification has been filed with the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited. The information will also be made available on the company's website at www.aavas.in.
