Bandhan Bank Limited has appointed Mr. Debasish Panda as its Non-Executive Chairman, effective July 5, 2026. The board approved the appointment at its meeting on June 25, 2026, based on the recommendations of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Mr. Panda has also been appointed as an Additional Director (Independent) and an Independent Director for a term of three consecutive years from July 5, 2026. The appointment is subject to shareholder approval within three months. Mr. Panda is not related to any other director on the board.
Mr. Panda is a 1987 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He served as Chairman of IRDAI from 2022 to 2025 and as Secretary of the Department of Financial Services from 2020 to 2022. He has held director positions on the boards of the Reserve Bank of India, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and Life Insurance Corporation of India. He currently serves as an Independent Director on the boards of Anand Rathi Wealth Limited, Capri Global Housing Finance Limited, IBDIC Private Limited, and Invesco Asset Management (India) Private Limited.
Dr. Anup Kumar Sinha will complete his tenure as the Non-Executive Part-Time Chairman and Independent Director on July 4, 2026.
On the capital plan, the board determined that Bandhan Bank is well capitalised and may not require additional capital at present. The board has in-principle advised the bank to initiate discussions for raising capital considering future growth requirements. The bank will make appropriate disclosures to stock exchanges as per SEBI regulations.
