Bharti Airtel Limited has deployed more than 2,900 new 5G sites across the Upper North region over the past 12 months. The rollout covers 77 districts across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, delivering faster speeds and wider network coverage to customers in one of India's largest telecom service areas.

The expansion provides high-speed 5G connectivity to over 28.6 million customers, spanning users from metropolitan centres and fast-growing towns to remote rural villages across the four states. More than eight new sites were activated daily as part of the deployment programme, enabling seamless video streaming, rapid file downloads, uninterrupted remote work and online education, and reliable digital payments across the region.

State-wise site allocations show Punjab received 1,066 new 5G sites, Haryana 954, Himachal Pradesh 276, and Jammu & Kashmir 619. Customers across all districts of these states will benefit directly from the enhanced network footprint. The expanded 5G network enables high-speed access for citizens, students, micro entrepreneurs, enterprises, and government institutions in both urban and rural markets.

The deployment is part of Airtel's broader capital expenditure programme aimed at meeting rising data consumption across northern India. The new 5G sites deliver faster data speeds and a more reliable network experience for the 28.6 million customer base in the Upper North telecom circle.

Anupam Arora, CEO – Upper North, Bharti Airtel, said data demand across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir is rising and Airtel is staying ahead by strengthening its network. Arora added that continued investments are directed at bridging connectivity gaps and powering the region's digital transformation.
