Bharti Airtel Receives Rs 0.02 Crore Penalty from DoT for Subscriber Verification Violation

Bharti Airtel Limited has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Karnataka LSA, imposing a penalty of Rs 0.02 crore for alleged violation of subscriber verification norms. The notice was received on June 16, 2026, at 22:50 IST.

The penalty arose from a Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit conducted by DoT for April 2026. Under its License Agreement, Bharti Airtel is required to ensure adequate verification of customers before enrolling them as subscribers and comply with instructions issued by DoT in this regard.

DoT alleged that Bharti Airtel violated the terms and conditions with respect to subscriber verification norms under the License Agreement during the audit period. The company disclosed this under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Bharti Airtel has opted to pay the penalty and will not contest the order. The maximum financial impact is limited to the penalty amount of Rs 0.02 crore. The company stated that the information provided is true, correct, and complete to the best of its knowledge and belief.

The filing was signed by Rohit Krishan Puri, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of Bharti Airtel Limited, and submitted to both the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited on June 17, 2026.
