Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a Notification of Award from Meja Urja Nigam Private Ltd. (MUNPL) for the 3x800 MW Meja supercritical thermal power project Stage-II in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The EPC contract is valued at over Rs 21,000 crore, excluding GST. The order was secured through International Competitive Bidding.
MUNPL is a joint venture between NTPC Ltd. and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (UPRVUNL). BHEL will serve as the executing agency for the project. The order does not fall under related party transactions.
BHEL's scope includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the EPC package. The project comprises three supercritical units of 800 MW each. The combined generation capacity from Stage-II will be 2,400 MW.
BHEL received the Notification of Award on June 4, 2026. The completion of facilities for the EPC package is scheduled at 70 months from the award date. The project is the second stage of the Meja thermal power station.
The order was disclosed to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India on June 5, 2026. BHEL will manufacture and supply the required equipment and execute the construction and commissioning works under the contract.
The EPC package covers the complete project scope from design to commissioning.
