Castrol India Limited has appointed Saugata Basuray as Managing Director with effect from 1 June 2026 for a five-year term ending 31 May 2031. The Board of Directors approved the appointment at its meeting held on 28 May 2026, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. The appointment is subject to shareholder and other statutory approvals.
Mr. Basuray currently serves as Whole-time Director and Interim Chief Executive Officer of the company. He holds an Engineering degree from the University of Pune and an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. He joined Castrol India as a Management Trainee in 1999 and has since built over 26 years of experience across sales, marketing, and business leadership.
Over his career, Mr. Basuray has worked in four countries across two continents, including India, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, and Indonesia. In 2008, he moved to Castrol's global headquarters in the UK, where he was part of the marketing team that helped shape Castrol Edge into a global brand. He later led sales for the B2B channel and served as Head of Marketing for Castrol India.
From 2013 to 2017, Mr. Basuray led Castrol Philippines and subsequently took charge as Managing Director of Castrol's joint venture in Indonesia. Prior to assuming the role of Interim CEO, he served as Wholetime Director and Head of B2C Business, where he drove a multi-year transformation of the company's go-to-market model and expanded Castrol's distribution network into rural India.
Early in his career, Mr. Basuray served as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Castrol India and Regional Vice President at bp. Mr. Basuray is not related to any director or key managerial personnel of the company and is not debarred from holding office of a director by virtue of any order from SEBI or any other authority.
