Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) has appointed Amit Mahajan as Executive Director for Vertical 1 (Critical Operations), categorised as a Whole Time Director on its Governing Board. The appointment is effective from June 11, 2026, for a five-year term through June 10, 2031, subject to shareholder ratification.

The Governing Board approved the appointment at its meeting held on June 11, 2026. SEBI had communicated its approval to CDSL on May 25, 2026. Mahajan has confirmed he is not debarred from holding the office of director by any SEBI order or other authority and is not related to any director on the governing board.

Amit Mahajan will continue as Chief Technology Officer until a new incumbent is appointed. He remains designated as Key Management Personnel under the SEBI Depositories and Participants Regulations, 2018, and as Senior Management under the SEBI Listing Regulations.

Mahajan has over 30 years of experience in market infrastructure institutions and IT services. He has served as CDSL Chief Technology Officer since 2019. During his tenure, beneficial owner accounts grew from 3 crore to over 18 crore by 2026. He led IT infrastructure modernisation, cybersecurity enhancements, and data warehousing implementation that scaled the CDSL technology ecosystem.

Before joining CDSL, Mahajan held senior positions at BSE, where he led digital transformation initiatives and developed information products. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from BITS Pilani and a Master of Management Studies in Finance from Mumbai University, along with a Project Management Professional certification.
