Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) has appointed Geetha Gangadharan as a Non-Independent Director on its Governing Board. The appointment is subject to approval by shareholders and subsequently by the Securities and Exchange Board of India.
BSE Limited nominated Gangadharan, its Chief Regulatory Officer, to replace Ms. Kamala Kantharaj on the CDSL board. Kantharaj was eligible to retire by rotation and did not offer herself for reappointment at the forthcoming 28th Annual General Meeting.
The Governing Board approved the appointment on June 25, 2026, based on the Nomination and Remuneration Committee's recommendation. The effective date will be the date of SEBI approval, and she will be liable to retire by rotation as per applicable laws.
Gangadharan brings over three decades of experience across securities regulation, banking supervision, enforcement, and policy advocacy. She previously held leadership roles at the Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, and the Central Bank of the UAE. At SEBI, she served as Chief General Manager and Head of Enforcement for 15 years, overseeing enforcement, litigation, quasi-judicial proceedings, and regulatory oversight of intermediaries and market infrastructure institutions.
She holds an LLM in Taxation from the University of Calicut and a BA (Law) and LLB from Government Law College, University of Calicut. She has completed international regulatory programs at Harvard Law School and the International Institute of Law in Washington, DC.
The 28th Annual General Meeting of CDSL will be held on July 30, 2026 through video conferencing. The notice of the AGM and the integrated annual report for the financial year 2025-26 will be sent to the stock exchange and shareholders separately.
