Coal India Limited reported provisional coal production of 57.4 million tonnes in June 2026, a marginal decline of 0.6% compared to 57.8 million tonnes in the same month last year. The state-owned miner's output remained nearly flat year-on-year for the month.
Off-take performance improved significantly, with the company dispatching 65.8 million tonnes of coal in June 2026, up 7.5% from 61.2 million tonnes in June 2025. The increase in dispatches reflects higher demand from power plants and other consumers during the month.
For the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27 (April-June 2026), Coal India's cumulative production stood at 169.6 million tonnes. Progressive off-take for the quarter reached 197.7 million tonnes, compared to 191.0 million tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Among subsidiary companies, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) contributed 11.2 million tonnes to June production, while Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) produced 14.5 million tonnes. South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) recorded 14.4 million tonnes of production during the month.
Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) produced 5.0 million tonnes in June, up from 4.8 million tonnes a year ago. Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) reported production of 2.3 million tonnes for the month.
