Godawari Power And Ispat limited has commenced commercial operations at its 6.91 MW waste heat recovery based power plant at Siltara Industrial Area in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, effective June 23, 2026. The plant utilises waste heat from flue gas generated by the Pellet Plant and Ferro Alloys Division at Godawari Power and Ispat's existing integrated steel plant.
The waste heat recovery system converts thermal energy from flue gas into electricity for captive consumption at Godawari Power and Ispat's Siltara facility. Godawari Power and Ispat had previously informed the stock exchanges about the project on April 2, 2026. The latest disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.
GPIL is listed on the National Stock Exchange under the symbol GPIL and on the BSE under scrip code 532734. The waste heat recovery facility reduces Godawari Power and Ispat's dependence on purchased power and lowers overall energy costs at the integrated steel plant. Captive power generation from recovered waste heat improves the energy efficiency of steel manufacturing operations.
GPIL's integrated operations at Siltara include pellet manufacturing, sponge iron production, steel billet casting, and ferro alloy smelting. The commissioning of the 6.91 MW captive waste heat recovery unit expands GPIL's in-house power generation capacity at the facility. Godawari Power and Ispat operates an integrated steel value chain from raw material processing to finished steel products.
Godawari Power and Ispat is headquartered in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and has been operating in the steel sector since 1999. GPIL's product portfolio serves customers across infrastructure, construction, and industrial sectors. The 6.91 MW waste heat recovery plant adds to GPIL's total captive power generation capacity at the Siltara complex.
