Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has emerged as the Lowest Bidder (L1) for the supply of one 15-ton electric bollard pull tug to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK).

SMPK opened the bids on 23 June 2026, and GRSE secured the L1 position for the contract valued at approximately Rs 40.00 crore. GRSE informed the stock exchanges of this development under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.

GRSE is a defence public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence and one of India's major shipyards. The shipyard has delivered over 780 vessels since its inception, including frigates, corvettes, destroyers, landing ship tanks, fast patrol vessels, and multiple types of commercial ships for both domestic and export markets. GRSE operates from shipbuilding facilities located in Kolkata on the Hooghly River.

GRSE has built various specialized maritime support vessels including tugs, barges, and other support craft for Indian ports and international clients. The electric bollard pull tug order for SMPK builds on this experience. GRSE's portfolio also includes the construction of electric and hybrid vessels as part of the broader shift toward greener maritime operations.

The contract, once formally awarded, will add to GRSE's order book. GRSE continues to participate in tenders for defence and commercial marine vessel contracts across Indian and international markets.
