HBL Engineering Limited has received a Letter of Acceptance from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of On-board KAVACH Loco equipment (Ver. 4.0). The contract carries a total value of Rs 1,714 crore, excluding 18% GST. The letter of acceptance was issued on May 28, 2026.
The order is classified as a domestic contract with a completion period of 12 months. HBL Engineering will be responsible for the full project scope covering supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the onboard KAVACH system for locomotives.
KAVACH is an indigenously developed automatic train protection system that applies brakes automatically when a locomotive passes a red signal or approaches another train on the same line, preventing collisions. The system is being deployed across Indian Railways as part of the national safety modernization program. The Ver. 4.0 equipment represents the latest generation of this technology.
No promoter, promoter group entity, or group company of HBL Engineering has any interest in Chittaranjan Locomotive Works. The transaction does not fall under the Related Party Transaction category.
