HDFC Bank clarifies on Rs 45 crore interest payment probe report

HDFC Bank Limited submitted a clarification to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited on May 28, 2026, responding to exchange queries on a news report published on May 27, 2026. The exchanges had sought the bank's response on May 27, 2026, following news items about an internal probe into interest payments.

BSE had sought clarification on a report referencing Rs 45 crore payments to a state transport firm. NSE had sought clarification on a similar report published on Moneycontrol on May 27, 2026. HDFC Bank Limited addressed both exchange queries in its response submitted on May 28, 2026, through its Company Secretary.

HDFC Bank Limited stated that its Internal Audit function conducts reviews and identifies observations in line with the bank's governance standards. The bank confirmed that all observations from internal audits are addressed by the bank, including those related to the matter in question.

HDFC Bank Limited clarified that the matter does not have a material impact on its financial statements or internal controls. The bank stated that no requirement for a disclosure under Regulation 30 of SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015, was triggered in its view.

HDFC Bank Limited stated that it continues to maintain financial and risk management practices with systems of internal control and oversight. The response was submitted by Ajay Agarwal, Company Secretary and Group Head of Secretarial and Group Oversight at HDFC Bank Limited, to both exchanges.
