Hindustan Zinc Extends CEO Arun Misra's Tenure, Appoints Amit Gupta as CFO

Hindustan Zinc Limited announced that its board of directors approved the extension of Chief Executive Officer Arun Misra's tenure and the appointment of Amit Gupta as Chief Financial Officer. The decisions were taken at a board meeting held on May 29, 2026.

Misra's tenure as CEO and Whole-time Director has been extended by two months, from June 1, 2026, to July 31, 2026. The extension is subject to approval by shareholders. Misra has held the position of CEO since August 1, 2020, and also serves as an Executive Director at Vedanta Limited. Before joining Hindustan Zinc, Misra spent 33 years at Tata Steel in various leadership roles.

The board appointed Amit Gupta as Chief Financial Officer and Key Managerial Personnel of Hindustan Zinc, effective June 1, 2026. Gupta is a qualified chartered accountant with a Diploma in IFRS from ACCA UK.

Gupta has been associated with Vedanta since July 2006 and has held multiple leadership roles across Cairn, Vedanta Corporate, and Bharat Aluminum Company Limited. He most recently served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer of Vedanta Aluminum Metal Limited and Chief Financial Officer of BALCO. In these roles, he was responsible for delivering business targets, optimizing production costs, and managing cash flows across smelting operations. Gupta brings over 22 years of experience within the Vedanta group.

The revised list of key managerial personnel authorised to determine materiality of events and make disclosures to stock exchanges includes Misra, Gupta, and Company Secretary Aashhima V Khanna. The board meeting commenced at 4:25 PM and concluded at 5:08 PM IST.
