JSW Infrastructure Limited has received a Letter of Award from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority for the integrated development of the Outer Container Terminal and Berth no. 1 through 5 at Netaji Subhash Dock in the Kolkata Dock System.

The project has been awarded on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer basis under the public-private partnership framework. It involves constructing two outer container handling berths and taking over five existing berths at NSD. The combined capacity is 0.93 million TEUs, equivalent to 13 million tonnes per annum of containers and multipurpose cargo.

The concession agreement is valid for a period of 30 years from the date of award. The project aims to address existing capacity constraints at NSD, improve berth productivity through mechanization, and enhance vessel turnaround times. The concession agreement is to be executed within 30 days from the issuance of the LOA or such extended period as mutually agreed.

This marks JSW Infrastructure's second win at SMPA within a year, following the earlier LOA for reconstruction of Berth 8 and mechanization of Berths 7 and 8 at NSD with a capacity of 0.45 million TEUs. Together, the two projects expand the combined container handling capacity at the Kolkata Dock System to approximately 1.4 million TEUs.

Upon completion of all identified container growth projects, the overall container handling capacity is expected to reach approximately 1.8 million TEUs. The addition of container capacity supports the strategy to diversify into the container segment and scale up third-party cargo operations. The LOA was communicated to JSW Infrastructure via email on June 8, 2026.
