JSW Steel Limited has commenced project development of a fully-owned greenfield integrated steel plant at Paradeep, Odisha. The plant will have a planned capacity of 13.2 million tonnes per annum, to be developed in phases, with an estimated investment of about Rs 65,000 crore.
The project spans nearly 2,950 acres on Odisha's coastline, providing port connectivity, access to raw materials, and logistics infrastructure to serve domestic and international markets. The plant has been planned with the potential to expand capacity in line with market demand.
The project commencement ceremony was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, senior members of the state government, and JSW leadership. Chairman and Managing Director Sajjan Jindal said the project marks a defining moment in JSW Steel's growth journey. Joint Managing Director and CEO Jayant Acharya said the coastal location and integrated infrastructure will improve efficiencies and strengthen the company's ability to serve domestic and global markets.
President Anil Singh said the company will work with the Government of Odisha and local stakeholders to build the manufacturing facility. The project aligns with the Government of India's Mission Purvodaya, which aims to unlock the industrial potential of eastern India.
JSW Steel's combined crude steel capacity currently stands at 37.9 MTPA. The company expects to reach a combined capacity of 54.8 MTPA over the next four years.
