JSW Steel Limited reported consolidated crude steel production of 2.293 million tonnes for May 2026, a 15% increase year-on-year. Indian operations produced 2.198 million tonnes, compared with 1.917 million tonnes in May 2025.
JSW Steel USA - Ohio recorded output of 0.095 million tonnes in May 2026, up 20% from 0.079 million tonnes a year ago. The steel business undertaking of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited, a subsidiary, was transferred on a slump-sale basis to JSW-JFE Steel Limited in March 2026. Production figures for the transferred undertaking have been excluded from prior-year numbers for comparability.
Production was higher in May 2026 primarily due to full operations at the Dolvi unit, where one blast furnace was under planned maintenance in May 2025. JVML operations also fully ramped up during the month.
Blast Furnace 3 at Vijayanagar is under shutdown for capacity upgradation and is expected to restart in the second fortnight of June 2026. Capacity utilisation for Indian operations excluding BF3 was approximately 98%, while including BF3 it stood at 87%.
JSW Steel has a combined crude steel capacity of 37.9 million tonnes per annum, including 4.5 MTPA through the JSW JFE Steel joint venture. The Vijayanagar plant, the largest single-location steel facility in India, has a current capacity of 19.5 MTPA and is being expanded to approximately 25 MTPA by FY30. JSW Steel's next phase of growth targets a combined capacity of 54.8 MTPA over four years.
