Jupiter Wagons Limited (JWL), through its subsidiary Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory (JTRWF), has signed a definitive long-term supply agreement with European rail wagon manufacturer Tatravagonka a.s. The agreement covers the supply of rail wheels, axles, and wheelsets to Tatravagonka and its affiliates.

The agreement is structured for 10 years, with commercial supplies expected to commence by the end of calendar year 2027. Under the procurement framework, Tatravagonka and its affiliates will source railway wheels, axles, and wheelsets from JTRWF.

JTRWF's greenfield plant in Odisha, built with an estimated investment of Rs 3,000 crore, has a planned annual production capacity of 100,000 wheelsets. The company expects to export approximately 50,000 wheelsets annually to the European market. Tatravagonka alone consumes approximately 20,000 to 30,000 wheelsets annually for its operations.

JTRWF becomes India's first rail wheel manufacturer to export wheelsets globally. The company has previously indicated that nearly 40-50% of the Odisha plant's production capacity is expected to cater to export markets over the long term.

Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons Limited, said the agreement validates the company's technology, manufacturing processes, and quality standards for global markets. He noted that India, previously a net importer of wheelsets, will now become a major exporter. The company expects to add Rs 1,000-1,500 crore of revenue through exports in the coming years.

Pawan Kumar Agrawal, CEO and Whole Time Director of JTRWF, stated that the long-term agreement provides strategic visibility for the upcoming Odisha facility and marks a step toward building a globally integrated rail manufacturing ecosystem from India.
