Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited has completed the direct assignment acquisition of a loan portfolio from its wholly-owned subsidiary Kotak Mahindra Investments Limited (KMIL), effective July 1, 2026. The outstanding amount of the acquired portfolio stood at Rs 9,587.62 crore.
The direct assignment was effected pursuant to the bank's decision, intimated to stock exchanges on March 24, 2026, to conduct KMIL's business activities departmentally within the bank from April 1, 2026. This move is in compliance with the RBI (Commercial Banks - Undertaking of Financial Services) Directions, 2025.
The original disclosure dated May 30, 2026 had outlined the proposed acquisition of the loan portfolio and non-treasury investments aggregating Rs 10,639 crore as on March 31, 2026. The final assigned portfolio amount of Rs 9,587.62 crore as on July 1, 2026 represents the completed tranche of this transaction.
The acquisition aligns with the bank's objective of group simplification and driving operations synergies by consolidating KMIL's business activities within the bank. The portfolio was assigned in one or more tranches as per the arrangement disclosed earlier.
Kotak Mahindra Bank disclosed the update to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited on July 2, 2026, in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
