Bharat Forge Limited informed the exchanges that its wholly-owned defence subsidiary, Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), unveiled the MArG Series of 155mm 4×4 Mounted Artillery Guns at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris. The series was introduced on the opening day of the international defence exhibition.
The MArG series is a family of 4×4 mounted 155mm artillery systems comprising three calibre configurations: the MArG 39 optimised for mobility, the MArG 45 for balanced range and firepower, and the MArG 52 as an extended-range high-performance artillery solution. The series allows armed forces to select an optimal calibre while retaining commonality in platform design, training, and logistics.
Each system combines a high-mobility 4×4 chassis with NATO-standard 155mm firepower, including precision-guided munitions. The series supports standard and extended-range ammunition across counter-battery, interdiction, and fire support mission profiles. Purpose-built for shoot-and-scoot operations, the system fires and repositions before counter-battery fire can respond. The MArG 39 on display at Eurosatory weighs 22 tonnes, negotiates 25-degree gradients, carries 18 rounds of ammunition, and comes into action within 1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night. The intense rate of fire is 10 rounds in 3 minutes, with a sustained rate of 42 rounds in 60 minutes.
The 4×4 platform delivers superior manoeuvrability across diverse terrains while reducing the logistics footprint compared with tracked systems and heavier 6×6 and 8×8 platforms. Air-transportable depending on configuration, the MArG series supports rapid transition from march-to-fire and back-to-movement. A modern fire-control system ensures accurate targeting with compatibility for network-centric warfare and digitised artillery coordination.
Mr Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, said the MArG series brings six decades of precision engineering and metallurgical expertise to a product for armed forces worldwide. Mr Neelesh Tungar, Chief Executive Officer of KSSL, said the series delivers a decisive battlefield advantage with the agility to reach mountains, cities and terrain where heavier systems cannot go.
The MArG 39 on display at Eurosatory is being demonstrated to prospective customers across Europe. KSSL, the defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge, delivers defence capabilities across land, marine and unmanned domains, including artillery systems, armoured vehicles, small arms, ammunition, and marine platforms.
