NTPC, UPRVUNL Sign Supplementary Joint Venture Agreement for Meja Stage-II Capacity Enhancement

NTPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) signed a Supplementary Joint Venture Agreement (SJVA)-III on 4 June 2026 for Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL). MUNPL is a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC and UPRVUNL.

The SJVA-III amends the Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) to incorporate provisions for capacity enhancement of Meja Stage-II. The project scope has been revised from 2x660 MW to 3x800 MW.

Under the revised configuration, Meja Stage-II will have three generating units of 800 MW each, up from the original plan of two units of 660 MW each. The total generation capacity at the stage will increase to 2,400 MW from 1,320 MW, adding 1,080 MW of new capacity.

MUNPL was set up as a joint venture between NTPC and UPRVUNL for power generation in Uttar Pradesh. SJVA-III is the third supplementary agreement signed between the two state-owned partners for this venture.

The SJVA-III was signed in Lucknow on 4 June 2026. The Managing Director of UPRVUNL and the Chief Executive Officer of MUNPL attended the signing. Senior officials from NTPC, UPRVUNL, and MUNPL were also present at the event.

NTPC informed the exchanges of the development through a regulatory filing under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015. NTPC made the disclosure on 4 June 2026.
