RBL Bank Limited has appointed Suryanarayan Subramanian (Surya Subramanian) as an Additional Non-Executive Independent Director for four years, effective June 5, 2026. The Board approved the appointment at its meeting on June 5, 2026, on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. The appointment is subject to shareholder approval.
Subramanian brings over 35 years of experience in banking and finance across South East Asia, the Far East, and the Middle East with major international banks. He held CFO roles covering Wholesale Banking, Retail and Wealth Management. Prior to his retirement in February 2020, he served as Group Chief Financial Officer for Emirates NBD, one of the largest financial institutions in the Middle East.
Subramanian currently serves as an Independent Board member and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at Spinneys, a leading upmarket grocery chain in the UAE. He is also an Independent board member and member of the Risk Committee and Strategy and Investment Committee at Odea Bank in Turkey. His governance roles include positions at Dubai Holding, Americana Restaurants International PLC, and Kuwait Food Company (Americana).
Past directorships include Network International Holdings PLC, DXB Entertainments, and Damac Real Estate Development Ltd. Subramanian has experience in listing and delisting companies and banking acquisitions in London, UAE, Egypt, and Turkey working with private equity firms, public investors, and private owners.
Subramanian is a Chartered Accountant from India and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Kolkata University. He is a Singapore national and an Overseas Citizen of India.
