Sarda Energy & Minerals reports transmission tower collapse at Sikkim hydro power plant

Sarda Energy & Minerals Limited has informed the stock exchanges about a disruption at the Sikkim Hydro Power Plant operated by its subsidiary Madhya Bharat Power Corporation Ltd. One transmission tower collapsed on 18 June 2026 due to heavy rains, leading to a temporary shutdown of the hydro power plant.

Sarda Energy & Minerals has commenced assessing the damage caused and estimating the time required to restore normal operations at the plant. The resulting loss is covered under insurance.

Madhya Bharat Power Corporation Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd. The subsidiary operates the Sikkim Hydro Power Plant, which has been temporarily shut down following the tower collapse.

The disclosure was made simultaneously to the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd as a material event under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations. The filing was submitted on 18 June 2026.

Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd, listed on both BSE and NSE, is primarily engaged in the manufacturing of iron and steel products including sponge iron, ferro alloys, and steel billets. Its subsidiary Madhya Bharat Power Corporation Ltd operates hydro power generation assets.

Sarda Energy & Minerals is working to restore the transmission infrastructure and resume power generation at the earliest. Further updates will be provided as the assessment progresses.
