Schneider Electric Infrastructure Limited's board, at its meeting held on July 3, 2026, approved a revision in capital expenditure from Rs 138 crore to Rs 184 crore for capacity enhancement at its Kolkata Medium Voltage Components facility. The meeting commenced at 12:28 PM IST and concluded at 12:50 PM IST.
The revised outlay will increase the manufacturing capacity of Medium Voltage Vacuum Interrupters to 250,000 units per annum from the previously approved 180,000 units. Current capacity at the facility stands at 80,000 units per annum, with utilization at approximately 90 percent.
The board separately approved a revision in capital expenditure from Rs 90.6 crore to Rs 107.2 crore for establishing a Mechanism Assembly Line at the same facility. The line will support future growth requirements and export opportunities.
The incremental Rs 46 crore from the initial approval brings the total investment to Rs 184 crore for additional capacity enhancements and project execution. The expanded scope includes MV Vacuum Interrupters and MV Vacuum Circuit Breakers assembly lines.
Schneider Electric Infrastructure cited manufacturing localization strategy, export growth plans, and capacity augmentation requirements as rationale for the expansion. Both board decisions update disclosures originally made in September 2022 and May 2025 respectively.
The investment will be funded through internal accruals or borrowings. The enhanced capacity is expected to be operational by the first quarter of fiscal 2028-29, ending June 30, 2028.
