Schneider Electric Infrastructure Limited announced expansion of manufacturing capacity through two major projects at its Kolkata Medium Voltage Components facility. The board revised capital expenditure from Rs 138 crore to Rs 184 crore for vacuum interrupter production enhancement. The company also increased investment for Mechanism Assembly Line establishment from Rs 90.6 crore to Rs 107.2 crore. Both projects will be completed by June 30, 2028, supporting the company\u2019s strategic growth objectives.
The Kolkata facility’s existing capacity stands at 80k MV Vacuum Interrupters annually with current utilization near 90%. The expansion will increase production to 250k MV Vacuum Interrupters and MV Vacuum Circuit Breakers assembly lines. This represents a significant jump in manufacturing capability to meet growing market demand and export opportunities.
Financing for these projects will primarily come from internal accruals with potential borrowings. The strategic rationale focuses on manufacturing localization, export growth, capacity augmentation, and business continuity objectives. These investments align with Schneider\u2019s broader business expansion plans in the medium voltage components sector.
The company has secured necessary board approvals for these substantial capacity enhancement initiatives. These expansions demonstrate significant commitment to scaling operations and strengthening manufacturing footprint. The investments are projected to enhance both domestic supply capabilities and international market reach.
