SJVN Limited today inaugurated its 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project, a landmark renewable energy initiative in Rajasthan that strengthens India’s clean energy portfolio.

Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the project, which represents India’s largest single EPC solar installation under the Domestic Content Requirement category at one location, requiring an investment of approximately Rs 5,492 crore across 5,000 acres.

The project will generate 2,454.84 million units of electricity in its first operational year and approximately 56,482.14 million units over its 25-year lifespan, supplying power to Rajasthan (500 MW), Uttarakhand (200 MW) and Jammu & Kashmir (300 MW) while reducing carbon emissions by nearly 2.79 billion kilograms.

The solar installation leverages strong domestic manufacturing with approximately 242.2 crore domestically manufactured DCR solar modules and around 17.5 crore indigenous solar cells, promoting Atmanirbar Bharat through extensive local content usage while creating over 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities during construction phases.

The project has facilitated critical infrastructure development including roads, transmission systems and associated facilities, accelerating overall growth of the Bikaner region. SJVN Limited, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Power with an existing 4,196.5 MW installed capacity, continues expanding its renewable energy footprint through this strategic project that enhances India’s energy security and sustainability goals.

The historic occasion was graced by Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister of Power, Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Sh. Hardeep Singh Puri, and other dignitaries. The event was virtually joined by CMD, SJVN, Shri Bhupender Gupta, Director (Personnel) Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Finance) Shri Parthajit De, Director (Projects) Shri Rajesh Kumar Chandel, CVO Shri Pankaj Porwal, CEO, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) Shri Prashant Sharma and senior officials of SJVN and SGEL.
