The investment represents 43,32,250 equity shares of Rs 10 each in the renewable energy entity. This transaction was previously announced on May 20, 2026, with the final execution now completed.
The acquisition enables Vodafone Idea to comply with captive power plant requirements under the Electricity Act, 2003 and Indian Electricity Rules, 2005. MTK Quantum is engaged in setting up solar and wind power plants for captive generation and distribution. The entity is currently developing a captive solar power plant in Tamil Nadu for cost-effective renewable energy procurement.
The target entity was incorporated on October 29, 2025, with an authorized share capital of Rs 17 crore divided into 1.7 crore equity shares of Rs 10 each. Paid-up share capital stands at Rs 16.66 crore with 1.666 crore shares issued. The acquisition required no governmental or regulatory approvals details.
This stake acquisition positions Vodafone Idea to secure its renewable energy requirements while supporting sustainable power generation initiatives. The transaction falls outside related party transaction purview, with no promoter or group interest in MTK Quantum. The company pursued this strategic acquisition to ensure regulatory compliance for captive power plants.
