Wipro Limited has successfully completed a large-scale, multi-year data center migration program for METRO AG, an international food wholesaler. The migration transferred METRO's IT operations from legacy data centers to a modern, scalable multi-cloud ecosystem through a phased and risk-controlled approach.

This migration is a core component of METRO's cloud-first strategy and long-term digital transformation agenda. It establishes a resilient, scalable digital foundation that enhances METRO's cybersecurity, improves operational agility, and supports its AI transformation journey towards becoming an AI-first company.

Intelligent automation has been deployed across METRO's key operational areas, including user lifecycle management. Using Wipro Intelligence, an AI-powered platform suite, these automation capabilities manage service requests autonomously, improving turnaround times, accuracy, and efficiency.

Wipro has implemented advanced AI-driven engineering tools to accelerate software development cycles, enhance code quality, and enable faster issue resolution. These tools assist METRO in identifying recurring patterns and systemic issues, strengthening decision-making and operational stability.

The partnership between Wipro and METRO AG began in December 2020 with a digital and IT deal, extended in June 2025. Google Cloud provided the cloud foundation for the migration, eliminating legacy infrastructure constraints and positioning METRO to pursue real-time innovation and long-term business value.

The completion marks a key milestone in METRO's transformation towards a scalable, cloud-based and AI-ready IT landscape, enabling accelerated innovation and AI adoption at scale.
